In Dundee are the Verdant Works with it’s history of the great Jute Mills and Discovery Point which houses the famous ship ‘RRS Discovery’ that Captain Scott and his crew took to the Antarctic. |
St Andrews has two spectacular beaches the West Sands with over 2 miles of golden sandy beach has blue flag status and the East Sands which has a safe swimming beach at one end. At the other end is the tranquil fishing harbour with its long Pier made famous by university students.

The fishing villages of Crail, Ansthruther, Pittenweem, and Elie are close by, so you can easily spend the day exploring the quaint old buildings and harbours. Boat trips leave from Anstruther Harbour going to May Island to view the seals and bird life in the summer. |
Close by Craigtoun Country Park and the St Andrews Botanic gardens display a wonderful diversity of plants, flowers and trees and provide family entertainment throughout the summer.
There are several leisure centres within Fife. The closest in St Andrews is the East Sands and has swimming pool, gym, squash and pool tables. Further away is the renowned Perth Leisure Centre.

For those of you who are more adventurous, you could go kart racing, 4x4 driving or rallying at the Knockhill Racing Circuit. Riding stables are within the area if you want to book a leisurely trek through Kinshaldy Forest, or a beach walk for the more experienced riders.
In near by Leuchars which is home to the RAF fighter squadron you could try your luck at the Scottish Clay Shooting Centre where experienced instructors will keep you on the right track.
If you like to fish there are even several lochs and reservoirs which you can relax by and tickle the trout.
